Hanson pumps up summer tour schedule
Now that they've finally gotten their new album in stores, the Hanson siblings plan to log some major miles this summer.
The trio, which launches its tour in early July, has extended the run into early September with a new batch of shows that expands the outing's reach as far south as Florida and as far west at Texas. The group has also added its first pair of Canadian dates to the run. Details are shown below.
Tickets for many of the previously announced July and August dates are already on sale, while on-sale dates for most of the new stops were pending at press time. Members of Hanson's fanclub will have access to tickets before the general public, according to the band's website.
The roadwork supports "Underneath," which surfaced in April. The album was originally due out last fall, but was delayed after the band--which split with Island/Def Jam in early 2003--decided to launch its own label, dubbed 3CG, and release the set independently.
"Underneath," the follow-up to 2000's "This Time Around," sold more than 37,000 copies during its first week out, and debuted at No. 25 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
Musicians who collaborated with the Hanson brothers on the new set include Matthew Sweet, Carole King, Greg Alexander (New Radicals), Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies) and Michelle Branch.
Hanson rose to fame in 1997 thanks to the bubble-gum hit "MMMBop." At that time, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson were 16, 13 and 11 years old, respectively.
