Cher continues long goodbye with more farewell-tour dates

If you didn't get a chance to catch Cher during her 2002 and 2003 farewell-tour stops in North America, don't fret: the singer gives fans another chance to bid her adieu this summer during a new string of U.S. and Canadian performances.

So far, the diva's schedule features a handful of July, August and September dates, most of which are set in Canada. Tickets for the tour's stops in Cedar Rapids, IA; Hidalgo, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; and Hamilton, Ontario, are due to hit the box office on Saturday (6/19), while those for the rest of the currently confirmed dates are on sale now. Details are shown below.

It was unclear at press time if more dates would be added to Cher's North American itinerary. A spokesperson for Cher could not be reached.

Dubbed "Living Proof--The Farewell Tour," Cher's ongoing tour began in June of 2002. The run spawned last summer's "Cher Live: The Farewell Tour," a concert DVD that features 18 songs recorded during her Nov. 8, 2002 concert in Miami; and a separate CD that houses audio versions of the same 18 tracks.

Throughout the course of the tour, Cher's set lists have spanned her four-decade-long career, and her performances feature multiple costume changes.

The show features a seven-piece band and several dancers, as well as video clips highlighting the greatest moments of Cher's music, film and TV careers. The two-tiered set includes a mechanical elephant, acrobats on rings and ropes and colorfully clad dancers.

Cher, who recently celebrated her 58th birthday, first rose to fame in the '60s with partner and then-spouse Sonny Bono. During her subsequent solo career, she has enjoyed several cycles of prominent commercial success, the most recent of which occurred in 1998. It was during that year that her single "Believe," featured on the album of the same name, hit No. 1, and went on to garner the 1999 Grammy award for Best Dance Recording.

"Living Proof," Cher's most-recent album of new material, surfaced in early 2002.
