Courtney Love scraps tour plans as legal woes grow
With the scheduled kick-off of her inaugural solo tour just days away, Courtney Love has postponed the outing in light of her mounting legal problems.
The run, which was due to kick off in Providence, RI, on Saturday (6/19), has been "postponed to late summer due to pending legal issues," according to Love's publicist. A revised itinerary has not yet been posted.
Meanwhile, 11 of the original dates are now listed as "canceled" on Ticketmaster's website, and a 12th date--June 28 at New York City's Central Park SummerStage--is listed as "canceled" on the venue's website. Refunds are available at the point of purchase, according to organizers.
The postponement likely won't come as a surprise to anyone who has followed Love's exploits in recent months. In May, the singer pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge that stemmed from an Oct. 2, 2003 incident during which she allegedly tried to break into her former manager's home. As part of the plea deal, Love was expected to enter an outpatient drug-treatment program this month.
Also pending against Love are felony charges for her alleged illegal possession of two prescription painkillers stemming from a separate Oct. 2, 2003 incident, and assault and reckless endangerment charges for allegedly hitting a fan with a microphone stand during a March 17 concert in New York City.
Last week, Love turned herself in to Los Angeles police after a judge issued a warrant for her arrest on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon; Love is accused in that case of attacking a woman with a bottle and a metal flashlight in late April.
