George Jones keeps up busy tour schedule

George Jones will be spending much of his time on the road in the coming months, which isn't an unusual scenario for the legendary country singer.
Jones, now 72 years old, is set to play a mix of club, theater, casino, fair and festival dates through November. He's also beginning to pencil in some dates for next year.
Some of Jones' earlier material is the subject of a new compilation titled "The Definitive Collection (1955-1962)," which hits stores on June 22. The 22 digitally remastered songs include his first three No. 1 country hits--"White Lightning," "Tender Years" and "She Thinks I Still Care"--as well as eight other Top 10 songs.
Some of the Texas native's earliest live recordings--taped in the '50s and early '60s--were compiled for a live album titled "George Jones: Live Recordings from the Louisiana Hayride," which hit stores earlier this year.
Jones continues to record new material. "The Gospel Collection," Jones' latest album, hit stores in April of 2003. The set was inspired by his near-fatal, alcohol-related, 1999 car accident. The two-disc set houses Jones' interpretations of two-dozen spirituals, including "Amazing Grace," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
