Baja Fresh restaurants to sell new Santana charity CD
A new CD that includes four new Santana songs will be sold for a limited time through Baja Fresh Mexican Grill Restaurants in the U.S., beginning on July 13.
The disc, titled "Food for Thought," will sell for $8, and net proceeds will be donated to Santana's Milagro Foundation. The organization donates money to support children and youth in areas of health, education and the arts, according to a press release.
The 10-song disc also will include one previously unreleased Carlos Santana recording from the guitarist's archives, one song recorded with and written by his son Salvador, as well as tracks by Etta James, Buddy Guy, Indigenous and Cesaria Evora.
According to a press release, the Santana CD will mark the first time Baja Fresh has sold non-food items in its restaurants.
Santana and his eponymous band will spend much of the summer on tour in Europe, but are also scheduled to play gigs in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The guitarist continues to work on a follow-up to his 2002 album, "Shaman," which will be his third straight set to feature Arista Records founder Clive Davis in the executive producer's chair. The first, 1999's "Supernatural," picked up nine Grammys, including Album of the Year.
Santana has issued 38 albums since he and his group first gained wide recognition at the original Woodstock festival in 1969.
