Tour to back new Reverend Horton Heat album

Psychobilly act the Reverend Horton Heat will spend the month of July on the club circuit to support the forthcoming release of its eighth studio album.

Also on the Reverend's schedule is a July 3 appearance at Southern California's Hootenanny, an outdoor festival that will also feature The Cramps, Supersuckers, The Blasters, James Intveld, Big Sandy and Ricky Warwick, among others.

Reverend Horton Heat's new album, the trio's first for Yep Roc records, is due in stores on June 29. Titled "Revival," the set was recorded in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas. In a press release, frontman/guitarist Jim Heath promises that the new album will feature the introduction of a "top-secret" guitar lick. His arsenal has long included what Heath calls the "hurricane," a lick where he plays lead and rhythm guitar simultaneously.

Among the album's tracks is "Someone in Heaven," which Heath wrote in memory of his mother, who died earlier this year.

"I'd been going through so much stuff, losing my mom so quickly, new baby, touring, getting back and having to work," Heath said in a statement of the events that inspired the new album.

Rounding out the manic trio on the album--and on the upcoming tour--are longtime stand-up bassist Jimbo Wallace and drummer Scott Churilla, who has been with the Reverend since the 1996 album "It's Martini Time."
