Clay Walker has 'A Few Questions' for the masses
Country singer Clay Walker continues to work the road this summer in support of his latest album, last year's "A Few Questions."
Walker, who is already on the road, has dates scattered into September. The itinerary is a mix of headlining theater and casino dates, as well as a number of fair and festival appearances. Details appear below.
Released last September, "A Few Questions" is Walker's first album for RCA Records, with whom he signed after his previous home, Warner Bros. imprint Giant, folded. Walker said in his bio sheet that the transition period between record deals was a profound one.
"I'm a gardener," he explains. "One of the things about trees and shrubs is you need to get some cold weather on them. The cold hardens the wood and makes the tree stronger. Then when it grows like crazy, you have to prune it back to make it grow in the right direction. That's the way I've always looked at my career.
"There was a low point when Giant closed. You do some soul searching. I thought, 'Maybe this is it.' Then when we started looking at different labels it was a real eye-opener. There was a big gap between where I thought we'd be and where we actually were. That takes away all your ego. And I think that's healthy."
Walker went on to say that the experience influenced his approach to the material on "A Few Questions."
"There's no safety net in this music," he said. "Everything that has happened to me over the last couple of years gave me a newfound courage. I'm dangerous right now because I feel I've got nothing to lose. I'm coming out swinging."
In early June, Walker--who is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Ambassador of the Year--traveled to Washington, DC, to support the MS Society's annual Public Policy Conference and to raise awareness about MS. The singer revealed last year that he has battled MS for much of the past decade.
