Big Head Todd and The Monsters ready DVD, mount tour
The band, which took a swing through the U.S. earlier this year, kicks off a new round of shows in Irvine, CA, on July 3, and the bulk of the group's itinerary stretches into late August. Plans include a mix of headlining dates and festival shows, as well as a handful of opening performances for the Steve Miller Band, John Fogerty, Blues Traveler and George Thorogood & The Destroyers; details are shown below.
Also on tap is a week-long residency aboard a Caribbean cruise that sets sail in early 2005. More information is available at the cruise's website.
On Aug. 10, Sanctuary Records delivers "Big Head Todd & The Monsters Live at the Fillmore." The DVD houses footage culled from the group's March 19 and 20, 2004 shows at the famous San Francisco venue, and features 15 songs from throughout the band's 20-year union.
Also included on the disc is a documentary about life on the road with the band, as well as a "behind-the-scenes look at the legendary Fillmore and its archive of old concert posters and memorabilia," according to a press release.
Big Head Todd & The Monsters' website features additional information about "Live at the Fillmore." Fans who pre-order the DVD from the site are entered to win a trip to the group's Aug. 7 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO.
"Crimes of Passion," Big Head Todd & The Monsters' latest album, surfaced in February. The set is the follow up to last year's "Riviera," which marked the group's first new studio release in five years.
