Dave Matthews Band, Bon Jovi, others line up Kerry benefits
A Concert for John Kerry, which was originally scheduled to take place at New York City's Radio City Music Hall on June 10--which was postponed that week due to former President Ronald Reagan's death--is now set for July 8. Additional acts scheduled to appear include Wyclef Jean, John Mellencamp, comedian Whoopi Goldberg and others to be announced.
James Taylor and Bette Midler, who were slated to appear at the original event, are no longer on the roster.
Tickets for A Concert for John Kerry are available only from Ticketmaster Charge by Phone, according to organizers. The number is (212) 307-7171. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.) More information is posted at Radio City Music Hall's website.
Meanwhile, comedy-rock duo Tenacious D--featuring Jack Black--will share the stage with Grohl and Liz Phair during a July 6 acoustic show at The Music Box Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Comedian Bob Odenkirk is slated to be the emcee.
Prices for the acoustic show are set at $150 for general admission, and $500 for VIP tickets, according to the event's website. More information is posted at the site.
Last Thursday (6/28), Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson and Angie Stone--along other celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Robert DeNiro--joined forces for a Kerry benefit that raised $5,000,000 for the candidate, according to Streisand's website. The event, which took place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, was originally scheduled for June 7, but it too was postponed in light of Ronald Reagan's death.
