Jimmy Buffett Unfolds Summer Tour Plans
Entrepreneur and entertainer Jimmy Buffett has unveiled his early summer touring plans, which include his typical menu of amphitheater appearances. The outing will include stops in 16 cities, mostly on the East Coast.
Tickets for the newly announced dates are scheduled to go on sale Saturday (3/18) in nearly all markets. Ticket on-sale dates for the tour's stops in Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Wantaugh, N.Y., could not be confirmed by press time.
In April, Buffett will embark on a previously announced amphitheater tour that will focus on the warmer climes of California, Arizona and Texas.
Buffett continues to donate one dollar from each concert ticket sold during his tours to Singing For Change, a private foundation he founded in 1995 to support programs benefiting children, families, the environment and other causes.
According to Buffett's official website, half of the dollar-per-ticket fee raised by each concert goes to a small non-profit organization in the area where the concert was held. The bulk of the remaining money goes to a pool of national charities and into a savings account so that the charity can continue after Buffett stops touring. SFC estimates that it has disbursed over $2 million to more than 175 non-profit organizations.
According to Amusement Business, Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band was the sixth-highest-grossing touring act of the 1990s, taking in nearly $166.6 million and playing almost 400 shows.
