Jimmy Page, Black Crowes Link For Summer Tour
Led Zeppelin axeman Jimmy Page and Black Crowes , who joined forces last year for a sold-out a six-date tour that was captured on the live album "Live at the Greek," have planned a more extensive outing for this summer. Tickets go on sale April 29 for the tour's first leg, which runs from June 24 through July 10.
In an unusual set-up, the tour will share a production crew with the Who and will play either the night before or the night after the Who play at the same venue. During a press conference earlier this month, the Who's Pete Townshend said that both acts will share the bill on some dates--including an October stop at New York's Madison Square Garden--but specific dates couldn't be confirmed. (Page has a long history with the Who, going back to the band's first successful single "I Can't Explain," on which he played rhythm guitar.)
The Page-Crowes single "What Is and What Shall Never Be"--which, like the live album, is available only by download or mail-order from Musicmaker.com--is the first hit single distributed exclusively by an online music retailer. The track hit No. 5 on Radio & Records' Rock Tracks chart last week.
