The Presidents ready new album, gear up for live dates

The Presidents of the United States will soon drop their first new album in four years, and will usher in the set with a series of live shows.

So far, the Seattle-based trio has lined up a handful of August dates and a pair of September shows, including a Sept. 3 headlining performance at the opening night of Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival. Details are shown below, and more dates are expected.

The roadwork coincides with the Aug. 17 release of "Love Everybody," which is The Presidents' first new set since 2000's "Freaked Out and Small." The album's first single, "Some Postman," as well as an album track titled "Shortwave" and a B-side titled "Jilted on the Tarmac," are available now via Apple's iTunes Music Store.

The band's revamped website will begin taking pre-orders for the new album on Aug. 2.

The Presidents of the United States rose to fame in the mid-'90s thanks to the radio hits "Lump," "Kitty" and "Peaches," which helped propel the group's 1995 self-titled debut to multi-platinum status. The group disbanded in 1997 so that frontman Chris Ballew could spend more time with his family, but reunited for 2000's "Freaked Out and Small."
