Gillian Welch sets headlining dates around Sweet Harmony outing
Gillian Welch will bookend her stint on the upcoming Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue--which also features Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller--with a number of her own concerts.
Welch has penciled in a handful of July dates, including a two-night stand in New York City, and a number of September and October stops. In between, she'll spend much of August on the multi-act Sweet Harmony jaunt. Details are shown below.
Joining Welch on tour is longtime collaborator David Rawlings, with whom she writes, records and tours. Rawlings produced Welch's latest album, "Soul Journey," which hit stores last June.
Also on Rawlings' list of production credits is the self-titled debut from Old Crow Medicine Show, which surfaced in February. The group will open for Welch during her headlining dates.
Welch made her debut in 1996 with the T-Bone Burnett-produced "Revival." The set sold 100,000 copies and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
In 2001, Welch, Sweet Harmony tourmate Harris, and Alison Krauss each won a Grammy for the soundtrack album "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," on which the trio sang "Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby."
