Ben Kweller travels the club, festival circuits

Singer/songwriter Ben Kweller , who this year has already completed a co-headlining tour with Death Cab for Cutie as well as a European outing, will focus on U.S. clubs in August and September.

Festival appearances--including a stop at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival--fill out Kweller's schedule for the coming months. Details are in the itinerary below.

Kweller's latest album, "On My Way," was produced by Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon). According to ATO Records, Kweller and his bandmates--in order to give the album a raw, impromptu feel--recorded all of the tracks together in one room, playing without headphones "to ensure that each member could hear and react to the whole sound being produced in the room, instead of focusing on what each individual had in his headphones."

"On My Way," which hit stores in April, is the follow-up to Kweller's 2002 solo-debut, "Sha Sha." The vocalist/guitarist/pianist first became widely known as the frontman of Radish when he was just 16 years old. That band--hyped as the next Nirvana--signed to Mercury Records after a frenzied bidding war amongst major labels, but its 1997 debut, "Restraining Bolt," didn't strike a nerve with the public or with critics. The group never released a follow-up album, and broke up by the end of the decade.

Kweller contributed a song titled "Jerry Falwell Destroyed the Earth" to the Barsuk Records compilation "Future Soundtrack for America," a fundraising project spearheaded by progressive non-profit organizations MoveOn.org and Music for America. The album is scheduled for release on Aug. 10.

Meanwhile, two previously unreleased Kweller tracks, "Tylenol" and "I Quit," are now being sold exclusively at Apple's iTunes Music Store.
