Emmylou Harris looks beyond Sweet Harmony tour
Emmylou Harris will spend most of August aboard the multi-act Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue tour, but the acclaimed country singer will follow that jaunt with a series of her own headlining dates.
The Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue, which runs Aug. 11-29, teams Harris with Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, and Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. According to a press release, the outing will feature varied set lists, ensemble performances, solo numbers and instrument swapping.
Though the artists on the bill have long histories together--including collaborations on albums and on the stage, and covering each others songs--the Sweet Harmony tour will mark the first time they've worked together as a unit.
Harris' latest album, "Stumble Into Grace," surfaced last September. Welch provided background vocals on the set, which is Harris' follow-up to 2000's "Red Dirt Girl."
Following the Sweet Harmony outing, Harris will continue her roadwork with a series of headlining dates, some of which will also feature her Sweet Harmony tourmates Miller and Griffin. Details are in the itinerary below.
Harris is also scheduled to appear at San Francisco's Strictly Bluegrass Festival, joining a bill that also includes Sam Bush, Jon Randall and Byron House, among many others. Details are available at the event's website.
