Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd team for fall road trip
Classic rockers The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd join forces this fall for their first-ever co-headlining run.
The bands have signed on for a seven shows that take place between Oct. 1 and Oct. 10. Details are shown below.
Both groups will perform full sets, and the Allmans will close the show each night, according to organizers.
"This is an American tour that's long overdue," Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant said in a statement. "Both of our bands have lived through plenty of hard times, but we’re still doing what we love: making music for the fans."
Gregg Allman added, "The Brothers and Skynyrd on the same stage has been a fan's dream a long time coming, proving that the road goes on forever."
The Allman Brothers are touring to support their latest album, a live set titled "One Way Out," as well as "Live at the Beacon Theatre," a platinum-certified DVD they shot last year during their annual multi-night engagement in New York City.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is also backing a live set, "Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyve," a double album released in June. The group simultaneously issued a companion DVD of the same name. Both releases feature the group's 2003 performance at the Nashville-area's AmSouth Amphitheatre.
In addition to their co-headlining stint with Skynyrd, the Allmans have a full contingent of summer headlining shows planned.
Skynyrd is also in the midst of a round of summer tour dates.
