Courtney Love sentenced to rehab
Troubled rocker Courtney Love was ordered on Tuesday (7/27) to serve 18 months in a rehab program that requires frequent drug-testing after pleading guilty to being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
A Los Angeles judge also ordered Love to refrain from drinking alcohol or being in places that serve alcohol, according to various press reports.
The charge stemmed from an incident last October, when Love was arrested for allegedly trying to break into her former manager/boyfriend's home, and was charged with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The disorderly conduct charge reportedly was dropped in a plea agreement.
Later that same day, Love was arrested and charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. At the time, authorities were called to Love's home in Beverly Hills to treat her for a drug overdose. While there, police allegedly found two legal painkillers--hydrocodone and oxycodone--for which Love had no prescription. She still faces trial in Beverly Hills on those charges.
Love is also facing separate assault and reckless endangerment charges for allegedly hitting a fan with a microphone stand at a New York concert in March.
In another pending case, Love was accused in April of attacking a woman with a bottle at an ex-boyfriend's house in Los Angeles. A warrant was issued for Love's arrest earlier this month when she didn't appear at her arraignment for that case.
