Phish adds Virginia stop to goodbye outing
One new date has been added to Phish 's summer tour, an outing that the group says will be its last.
Phish has confirmed an Aug. 9 show at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA, a venue that has long been a regular stop for the jam band. "Hampton Comes Alive," a six-CD album that was recorded at the venue over two days in 1998, was released the following year.
Tickets for the Virginia show will go on sale to the general public on Saturday (7/31) at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, according to the band's official website.
In a surprise May announcement, Phish frontman/guitarist Trey Anastasio said that the band will split following its summer tour, which is now scheduled to visit four cities in August.
Phish's final performances will take place at Coventry, a two-day music and arts festival set for Aug. 14-15 on the grounds of the Newport State Airport and adjacent fields in the town of Coventry, VT.
Coventry will be simulcast in its entirety at select Regal, Edwards and United Artists movie theaters. Details--including ticket information and a list of theaters carrying the simulcast--are posted at Regal's website.
"Undermind," apparently Phish's final studio album, was released in June. The set was recorded at the band's Vermont studio, The Barn, and was mixed in England's Real World Studios by producer Tchad Blake (Los Lobos, Peter Gabriel).
