Johnny Cash's Health Improving

Country music legend Johnny Cash will remain in a Nashville hospital a few more days, though he is in good condition, said a Baptist Hospital spokeswoman this morning (10/29).

Cash, 67, has been suffering from pneumonia, for which he was hospitalized twice last year. This year, he was admitted to the hospital on Oct. 20, spent a few days at home, and was then readmitted on Oct. 24.

Though he was in serious condition earlier this week and was using a respirator, his illness was not considered life-threatening.

In April, at the ''All-Star Tribute To Johnny Cash'' in New York, Cash took the stage for the first time in 19 months, singing ''Folsom Prison Blues'' and ''I Walk The Line.'' The show featured performances by June Carter Cash singing ''Ring Of Fire,'' as well as Cash songs performed by Bob Dylan , U2 , Bruce Springsteen , Trisha Yearwood, Kris Kristofferson, Dave Matthews and others. TNT broadcast the show, attracting an estimated 10 million viewers.

Cash has rarely been seen in public since being diagnosed in 1998 with Shy-Drager Syndrome, a disorder similar to Parkinson's Disease.
