Pixies to play first L.A. concerts in more than a decade

The Pixies have added to their fall tour itinerary a pair of Los Angeles dates that will be their first in the city since 1991.

The shows are set for Sept. 22-23 at the Greek Theatre, and tickets, which are priced at $35 and $45, will hit the box office on Saturday (8/7), according to organizers.

An online ticket pre-sale is scheduled to take place at the Pixies' website on Tuesday (8/3), according to a press release.

The Distillers are slated to open on Sept. 22, and The Thrills are tapped for Sept. 23. Grant Lee Phillips will also support on both nights.

The Los Angeles dates are the latest additions to the Pixies' fall itinerary, which kicks off in early September and runs through early December. Details are shown below.

Earlier this year, the original Pixies lineup--vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (a.k.a. Black Francis and Charles Thompson), guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering--reunited and toured together for the first time since holding down the opening slot on U2's 1992 Zoo TV tour.

The last time the group headlined in Los Angeles was on Dec. 22, 1991, at the Palladium, according to the band's publicist.

Last month, the Pixies released via Apple's iTunes Music Store their first new song in 13 years. Deal wrote the track, titled "Bam Thwok," and handles lead vocals.
