Western trek on the horizon for Aimee Mann

Singer/songwriter Aimee Mann is set to play a round of West Coast concert dates in late August, and plans to issue a live DVD and CD in November.

Five of the mini-tour's eight confirmed shows will take place in California, and Mann will also make stops in Portland, Seattle and Vancouver.

The upcoming live DVD and CD--the exact release date for which hasn't been announced--was recorded during Mann's June 23 and 24 performances at Brooklyn, NY's St. Ann's Warehouse.

Mann continues to back 2002's "Lost in Space," which is her fourth solo collection, and her second release on her own Superego record label. Husband Michael Penn, producer/musician John Brion and singer/songwriter Jason Falkner contributed to the set, which Mann recorded during breaks from her 2000/2001 Acoustic Vaudeville tour with Penn.

In December, Mann issued a special-edition version of "Lost in Space"; the book-bound package includes additional artwork and a second disc featuring 10 bonus tracks (six live cuts, "Lost in Space" b-sides, and two previously unreleased studio cuts), as well as the "Pavlov's Bell" music video. Only 20,000 copies were pressed, according to Mann's website.
