Beastie Boys warm up with club show, expand tour
Beastie Boys headline this weekend's "MTV2 Presents: A LIFEbeat Benefit" concert in Miami, a show that serves as a warm-up for the group's ever-growing fall tour.
The Aug. 28 performance at Miami's Crobar Nightclub--which is part of MTV's Video Music Awards week and benefits LIFEbeat--will also feature De La Soul, DJ AM and DJ Samantha Ronson. Ticketing details are posted at Beastie Boys' website.
Meanwhile, an Oct. 9 hometown show at New York City's Madison Square Garden punctuates a new batch of Beastie Boys dates that also includes October stops in Fairfax, VA; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Tampa, FL; and Dallas. Tickets for the New York show will hit the box office on Friday (8/27), while those for the other new stops go on sale on Saturday (8/28), according to Beastie Boys' website. Details are shown below.
Subscribers to Beastie Boys' official email newsletter have access to online ticket pre-sales; more information is available at the group's website.
In addition to their headlining plans, Beastie Boys' itinerary includes a mid-October performance at New Orleans' annual Voodoo Music Experience festival.
Released in June, "To the 5 Boroughs," debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The album--which is the trio's first since 1998's "Hello Nasty"--has sold more than 850,000 copies, according to industry sources. Helping spur sales is the set's lead-off single, "Ch-Check it Out."
