Headlining tour in the works for Cake
Sacramento-based alt-rock band Cake , which assembled the eclectic, multi-artist Unlimited Sunshine Tour in 2002 and 2003, returns to headlining its own shows this fall.
The club tour opens Oct. 5 in Los Angeles, the same day Cake's fifth album, "Pressure Chief," hits stores. Northern State --a New York-based, female rap trio that's backing its just-released sophomore album, "All City"--has been tapped to open all of the October shows.
Prior to kicking of the headlining tour, Cake is scheduled to warm up by playing at a few multi-act festivals; details are in the itinerary below.
"Pressure Chief," Cake's follow-up to 2001's "Comfort Eagle," was recorded in a converted house in Sacramento, and marks the band's first set recorded outside of a conventional studio.
"It really was a breath of fresh air, a luxury of being in a room with everybody with nobody on the clock," guitarist Xan McCurdy said in a statement.
