Briefly: U2, Rolling Stones, Twista, Slow Train Soul
U2 will issue three different versions of "Vertigo," the first single from the group's upcoming album.
One CD version features the new song "Are You Gonna Wait Forever," and a second sports a cover of Kraftwerk's "Neon Lights" and a remix of "Vertigo" by Jacknife Lee.
A DVD version of the single includes the "Vertigo" music video, audio of "Are You Gonna Wait Forever," photos of the band recently taken in Lisbon by Anton Corbijn and a live performance of "Vertigo" shot at the studio.
The singles are due in stores on Nov. 8, and the band's as-yet-untitled new album is set for release in the U.S. on Nov. 23
"Rock and Roll Circus," a would-be television special starring The Rolling Stones that was conceived in the late-'60s but didn't surface until the mid-'90s, reportedly will be released on DVD on Oct. 12.
According to Billboard.com, the DVD edition features commentary tracks by the Stones' Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Bill Wyman, as well as Marianne Faithfull and others.
The DVD also features previously unreleased clips, including a backstage meeting between Jagger, John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
Rapper Twista was slightly injured and one of his bodyguards, Arthur Dixon, was killed in a Monday morning (9/6) van accident near Erie, PA.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the van reportedly hit a median and rolled several times. All passengers in the van were ejected except for the driver, who was the only one wearing a seatbelt.
Twista and three other passengers suffered minor injuries--the nature of the injuries wasn't immediately available--and were released after brief hospitalizations. Another passenger remained hospitalized on Tuesday (9/7).
London-based electronic-pop duo Slow Train Soul will make its first U.S. performances during a trio of September special engagements.
The schedule includes a Sept. 27 show at Knitting Factory in New York City, a Sept. 28 gig at Knitting Factory in Los Angeles and a Sept. 29 show at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco.
The duo's full-length debut, "Illegal Cargo," is set for release in the U.S. on Sept. 28.
