The Tragically Hip fills autumn itinerary
Canada's The Tragically Hip have expanded their fall tour of the U.S., an outing that's now scheduled to visit more than 30 cities in September and October.
The rockers are supporting their latest album, June's "In Between Evolution." Much of the set was road-tested before the album was recorded.
"It's the sound of five guys in a room, playing together," frontman/guitarist Gordon Downie said in a statement. "We didn't get involved too much in overdubs. We didn't belabor the songs too much. We got them down in rehearsal, then went out and played them live. We got them succinct. When you take new songs and play them in front of a crowd, that's the last necessary stage to figure out what they need or don't need. You can tell pretty quickly. The crowd helps you do that."
The Tragically Hip has consistently topped the Canadian charts over the course of its 20-year history, and has sold than 6 million albums worldwide, according to Zoe/Rounder records.
"In Between Evolution" is the follow-up to 2002's "In Violet Light."
