Velvet Revolver unholsters first round of fall tour dates

Velvet Revolver has begun unveiling a new U.S. tour, expected to route the group around the country through the fall and possibly into the winter.

The band performed a whirlwind American tour in the spring, straddling the weeks surrounding the release of their debut collection, "Contraband." The critically-lauded effort topped the Billboard Pop Albums chart upon release and remains a Top 40 fixture in its 15th week.

In an interview with liveDaily earlier this year, Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash explained that the core of the band came together when Slash and fellow former Guns 'N Roses band mates Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums) pulled a group together to play a few songs at a fundraiser following the death of former Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne drummer Randy Castillo.

After a couple of months of rehearsals and personnel changes, the Guns veterans singled out guitarist David Kushner-- who had been playing with McKagan in the band Loaded--and, upon the breakup of Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland (who was the band's original first choice for singer) fell into place as their new frontman.

The itinerary at this point begins in mid-October, concentrating on the southern U.S. A Halloween show in Little Rock, AR, was set to go on sale Saturday, (9/25) at press time. The band is also reportedly working to reschedule the Austin show they missed in June when frontman Scott Weiland was forced to rest his voice to avoid damage to his vocal cords after singing a few shows with bronchitis.
