Metallica plots more shows, Godsmack unplugs for off nights
More dates have surfaced for Metallica 's ongoing tour behind last year's "St. Anger," and show-openers Godsmack have laid plans to spend some of the tour's off nights giving headlining acoustic performances.
New to Metallica's itinerary are November stops in Dallas; the Salt Lake City area; San Diego; Anaheim, CA; and San Jose, CA. Tickets for those shows will hit the box office this weekend. Details are shown in the itinerary below.
Meanwhile, Boston-based quartet Godsmack will play a handful of acoustic shows. Only five such shows are currently planned, with dates spread across September, October and November. The brief itinerary is included below.
Metallica is backing its latest album, "St. Anger," which surfaced in June of last year, and is the band's first collection of all-new material since 1997's "Reloaded." The group is also promoting its recent documentary, "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," which is in theaters now. The band, along with the film's directors--Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky--recently taped an appearance for "The Jane Pauley Show" that is scheduled to air on Thursday (9/30). More information is available at the film's website.
Godsmack's most-recent full-length studio set is last year's "Faceless." Earlier this year, the band released "The Other Side," an acoustic EP that features unplugged versions of previously released material, as well as three new cuts.
New in stores this month is Godsmack's "Changes," a DVD filmed during the band's 2003-2004 tour. In addition to live performances, the disc features behind-the-scenes footage and band-member interviews.
