Pixies to cap tour with back-to-back New York shows

The Pixies will wrap up their reunion outing with two same-day performances in The Big Apple.

The group, which already has sold out a six-night stand at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, has added a seventh and final date to that run. The Dec. 18 finale will feature one show at 7 p.m. and another at midnight.

Mike Watt and The Secondmen will open the first show; Kristin Hersh and 50 Foot Wave will open the second.

Tickets will hit the box office on Saturday (10/9), according to organizers; pre-sale tickets will be available through PixiesMusic.com starting Tuesday (10/5), according to the group's publicist.

Earlier this year, the original Pixies lineup--vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (a.k.a. Black Francis and Charles Thompson), guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering--reunited and toured together for the first time since holding down the opening slot on U2's 1992 Zoo TV tour.
