Trans-Siberian Orchestra returns with holiday album and tour
UPDATED: 10/27/04--As it has done for the past several years, Trans-Siberian Orchestra will break into two touring units for an ambitious holiday tour that will canvas North America.
The massive undertaking begins in mid-November and is scheduled to run through the end of December. The itinerary is shown below.
The outing marks Trans-Siberian Orchestra 's sixth annual holiday tour, and follows the Oct. 12 release of the group's new album, "The Lost Christmas Eve."
Group co-founder Paul O'Neill authored a fictional short story as a companion to the album; the piece is posted at the group's website.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra sprouted from a collaboration between producer/songwriter O'Neill and keyboardist Jon Olivia, both of progressive-metal group Savatage. In the mid-'90s, the two wrote some Christmas songs that eventually became Trans-Siberian Orchestra's 1996 rock-opera album "Christmas Eve & Other Stories."
In 1998, Trans-Siberian Orchestra released its sophomore effort, "The Christmas Attic," its first non-holiday album, "Beethoven's Last Night," followed two years later. In 2001, the group released the video/DVD "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve."
