Melissa Etheridge has canceled all of her upcoming tour dates after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Etheridge--whose prognosis is described as "excellent"--will undergo surgery, and her doctor is expecting a "speedy and complete recovery," according to a press release.

"I am fortunate to be under a wonderful doctor's care and thankful that this was caught early," Etheridge said in a statement. "I am looking forward to a quick and full recovery."

Following surgery, Etheridge will be recuperating at home in Los Angeles with her wife and children, according to her publicist. Etheridge wed actress Tammy Lynn Michaels last year, and has joint custody of two children with her previous partner, Julie Cypher; Cypher conceived both children via artificial insemination using sperm from singer/songwriter David Crosby.

Etheridge had been touring in support of her latest studio set, "Lucky," which hit stores in February, and was due to play a series of October club dates. Refunds are available at the point of purchase, according to a press release.
