Jethro Tull to play acoustic and electric sets during fall tour

Classic-rock outfit Jethro Tull will mix things up during shows on its upcoming North American tour, which will feature one acoustic set and one electric set.

The group has lined up a three-week run that kicks off on Nov. 1 and focuses primarily on the Midwest and Northeast. The itinerary is shown below.

The performances will begin with acoustic works by the band, "some familiar, some less so," according to a statement from band leader Ian Anderson . The acoustic set will also include some cuts from Anderson's latest solo album, "Rupi's Dance," as well as original and traditional Christmas tunes from last year's "The Jethro Tull Christmas Album."

The show's second half--which Anderson describes as "the electric 'rock' set"--will feature some material that the band has not played live before.

"We have some lost delights from the 'Aqualung' album to schedule into the shows like 'Hymn 43,' 'Slipstream' and 'Up to Me'--none of which has ever been played since the original recording in 1971," Anderson said.

The electric set will also include songs from the group's Christmas album.

In addition to singer/flutist/multi-instrumentalist Anderson, Jethro Tull's lineup features guitarist Martin Barre, keyboardist/accordionist/multi-instrumentalist Andrew Giddings, bassist Jonathan Noyce and drummer/percussionist Doane Perry.
