New Everclear lineup maps more dates for hits tour

Everclear , which earlier this week unveiled the initial dates for a fall tour behind its just-released best-of set, has added more than a dozen stops to its itinerary.

The tour's Nov. 3 kick-off in Philadelphia remains intact, but a number of November blanks have been filled, and a handful of early December shows have also been added to the run. Among the new cities now on the route are Detroit, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Las Vegas, Anaheim, San Diego and Tucson. Details are shown below.

The run supports last month's "Ten Years Gone: The Best of Everclear 1994-2004," a 21-track set that features hits culled from throughout the group's career, as well as soundtrack contributions and two previously unreleased songs.

The hits collection follows last year's "Slow Motion Daydream," the group's most-recent set of all-new material, and apparently the last to feature founding guitarist Craig Montoya and longtime drummer Scott Cuthbert.

"Craig and Greg have left to pursue different directions in music and life," frontman Art Alexakis wrote in a recent message on the band's website. "I wish them luck and success in all that they do."

A trio since its inception, the group is now a quintet featuring Alexakis, guitarist Dave French, bassist Sam Houston, keyboardist Josh Crawley and drummer Brett Snyder.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Alexakis has been involved in politics as of late. He recently served as an elected delegate representing Oregon's 3rd congressional district (Portland) at the Democratic National Convention in Boston, and played an acoustic solo set at Thursday night's (10/7) Rock the Vote show in Portland.

Alexakis is also among the many celebrities and politicians featured in an upcoming political documentary titled "America Speaks Out," which "takes a look at activities during the summer's political conventions--protestors, delegates, celebrities, citizens and even politicians--all having their say on the issues and the candidates," according to a press release.
