Briefly: Rod Stewart, Source Awards, Beanie Sigel
Rod Stewart will back the release of his new CD, "Stardust ... The Great American Songbook Volume III," with an invitation-only Oct. 18 concert at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater.
The New York City concert, which will feature songs from the new album, will be streamed live to AOL subscribers.
Kanye West and Lil Jon were the top winners at Sunday night's (10/10) Source Awards, taking home three awards each.
West got the nod in the breakthrough artist of the year, album of the year ("The College Dropout") and video of the year ("Through the Wire") categories. Lil Jon won in the producer of the year, R&B/rap collaboration (with Usher and Ludacris, for "Yeah") and best single ("Damn, with Youngbloodz) categories.
The ceremony was taped for broadcast on BET on Nov. 30.
Rapper Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to spend a year in federal prison following a gun possession conviction.
The charges date back to 2002, when police said he fled during a traffic stop. A search of his SUV turned up a loaded handgun, Oxycodone, codeine and marijuana. He could have faced a three-year term.
