Jimmy Eat World backs 'Futures' at U.S. clubs
Arizona-based pop-rock act Jimmy Eat World launches a club tour this month to support its forthcoming set, "Futures," due on Oct. 19.
The band plans to spend the next two-and-a-half years touring the world, according to a press release. The first round of shows opens Oct. 15 in New York City; details are in the itinerary below.
"Futures" comes four years after Jimmy Eat World's self-titled 2001 breakthrough album (originally titled "Bleed American"). The band financed that album on its own after a string of label problems, and DreamWorks Records later picked up the rights to the set.
DreamWorks has since been absorbed into Interscope Records. Though that change delayed the release of "Futures," guitarist/vocalist Tom Linton told liveDaily in a recent interview that the transition was relatively smooth.
"What happened was the guy who signed us, he was one of the few who made it over from DreamWorks to Interscope," Linton said. "We got kind of lucky, because a lot of bands and people lost their jobs. It was sad watching all these people that helped us on the last record and got us where we were all lose their jobs."
Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters) produced "Futures," marking the first time the group has enlisted outside help in that capacity.
"Gil didn't know us well, which was good," frontman Jim Adkins said in a statement. "It made us step up and really make an effort. We had only made albums with one person in 10 years. It helped to have an outside perspective."
