Eminem's Shady National Convention to invade New York

Eminem will hype his forthcoming album and his new Sirius satellite radio station with an Oct. 28 event dubbed the 2004 Shady National Convention.

The rapper will be performing at the event, which will take place at New York City's Roseland Ballroom.

"We can expect his performance platform to be a combination of both his core value messages from the past and some new issues that will be of key importance to conventioneers come Nov. 16th," "Convention Chairman" P. Daniel Rosenberg (a.k.a. Shady Records President/Eminem Manager Paul Rosenberg) said in a statement. Shady/Interscope Records will issue the rapper's new album on Nov. 16.

Eminem is expected to perform songs from his forthcoming album, "Encore," as well as older material, according to the statement.

Announcements about special guests and a possible television broadcast of the event "were likely to be made in the coming days," the press release continued. The show will also mark the launch of Shade 45, Eminem's channel on the Sirius satellite radio network, which will broadcast the show live.

Though details remained sketchy at press time, it appears that tickets won't be sold for the event; 70 radio stations in the U.S. have begun contests "to aid in the choosing of delegates," according to organizers.

"Contest winners will be flown to New York City to attend the Convention, where they will join the Shady Party as delegates representing their home states," the statement said.
