Hoobastank sniffs out dates for headlining run

Hoobastank takes another swing through the U.S. in late 2004 as the group continues to support its latest album, last year's "The Reason."

The run is shaping up for a mid-November kick-off, and a handful of shows are currently set into early December. More dates are expected.

Tickets for several shows are on sale now, with more scheduled to hit the box office in the coming days. Details are shown in the itinerary below.

Members of the band's fan club will have access to presale tickets throughout the entire tour, according to the group's website.

Released last December, "The Reason" features Hoobastank's chart-topping title track, which has pushed the album to platinum status, signifying U.S. shipment of 1 million copies.

Hoobastank performed the song at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, but ran into some trouble that resulted in singer Doug Robb sounding sorely out of tune.

Drummer Chris Hesse, in a message posted at the band's website two days after the event, explained that MTV's sound engineer goofed up, which resulted in the band members--including Robb himself--not being able to hear Robb's vocals.

"As a singer, the main thing you need to hear is yourself, with a little bit of drums guitars and bass a reference, so you know what notes you need to be hitting. If you can't hear yourself in the mix, you can't tell if you're singing the right notes or not because all you can hear is what's coming out of the sound system. ... I use the analogy of playing darts blindfolded."

Hesse expressed concern about the performance turning people off to the group.

"Anyone who has seen us live knows this: Doug can sing his balls off, even when sick. I feel very badly because millions of people who have never seen us live only have that to judge us by and through no mistake of our own."
