Bruce Springsteen to join John Kerry on the campaign trail
Bruce Springsteen will make three appearances with Democratic candidate John Kerry during the final days of the presidential campaign, Kerry's campaign announced this week.
Springsteen is scheduled to join Kerry at Thursday (10/28) rallies in Madison, WI (State Capitol Square) and Columbus, OH (South Oval at Ohio State University); and at an election-eve rally on Nov. 1 in Cleveland (location to be announced). Tickets, which are available at the Kerry campaign's website, will be required for entry to the events.
According to Springsteen's publicist, the artist is expected to perform one or two songs at each campaign stop.
Until this campaign season, Springsteen had shied away from supporting specific candidates during the course of his career. This year, he has been outspoken in his opposition to President George W. Bush and in his support for Kerry.
Earlier this month, Springsteen headlined several Vote for Change Tour dates. That outing--which comprised six separate treks aimed at motivating progressive voters in states expected to be pivotal in this year's U.S. presidential election--were political fundraisers presented by the Political Action Committee MoveOn.org to benefit the liberal advocacy group America Coming Together.
