Jimmy Buffett plans hurricane relief benefit show
Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will play a Nov. 23 benefit concert at Orlando's T.D. Waterhouse Centre to raise money for hurricane relief efforts in Florida, Alabama and the Caribbean.
Tickets for the show, priced at $75 and $55, plus applicable service charges, will go on sale Saturday (10/31), according to organizers. Bank of America, Outback Steakhouse and Carrabba's Italian Grill have signed on as presenting sponsors.
Buffett is an Alabama native and a Florida resident. Florida, the Gulf Coast and the Caribbean were especially hard hit this year by the procession Hurricanes Jeanne, Ivan, Frances and Charley, which pounded the region in August and September.
According to a press release, proceeds from the concert will be deposited to the Florida Hurricane Relief Fund, which is managed by the nonprofit Volunteer Florida Foundation. More information about the non-profit organization is available at its website.
Buffett's latest album, "License To Chill," hit stores in July. The set--which features guest appearances by several country artists, including Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, George Strait and Toby Keith--moved 235,000 copies during its first week in stores, enough to debut at the top of The Billboard 200 album chart.
