Howie Day continues acoustic tour, expanded album due

More than a year after it first hit stores, Howie Day 's major-label debut, "Stop All the World Now," is being re-released to capitalize on the emergence of the surprise hit "Collide."

According to Epic Records, a special version of the album that contains four bonus tracks--acoustic renditions of "Brace Yourself" and "Collide," plus two rare b-sides--will be in stores on Nov. 16.

"Collide" currently is receiving heavy airplay on Adult Top 40 radio stations, and the song got a further push when it was featured in its entirety on a recent episode of the WB television series "One Tree Hill." A video for the song was recently filmed with director Chris Mills (Modest Mouse, Kanye West).

The two b-sides that will appear on the new version of "Stop All the World Now" are "This Time Around" and "Standing in the Sun," both of which were recorded during the album's original recording sessions in London.

Day, who recently took the Boston Music Award for Male Vocalist of the Year, is in the midst of an acoustic tour of clubs and colleges, which will be followed by a string of appearances at radio station holiday festivals.

In a recent liveDaily interview, Day said that he's amazed at the wide swath of fans his shows have attracted.

"We'll go out some nights and in the front row you'll have your group of teenaged girls, and then you have a college-aged or mid-'20s-aged couple," he said. "And then there'll be, like, a random 50-year-old guy with a baseball hat. It's like, 'Wow. It's kind of cool that there's not that boundary.' Hopefully that means we're doing something right. I don't know."
