Muse backs 'Absolution' with U.S. club trek
U.K. rockers Muse , who upped their profile in the U.S. with a second-stage slot on The Cure's summer Curiosa festival, are currently traversing the U.S. club circuit.
Muse's outing is scheduled to run through December, and includes gigs at holiday-themed radio-station festivals in Florida and Georgia. Details are in the itinerary below.
The trio's latest album, "Absolution," topped the U.K. and French charts last year, and finally was released in the U.S. in March. The set marks the band's first North American release since its 1999 debut, "Showbiz"; its 2001 follow-up, "Origin of Symmetry," was available only as an import.
The band took a year-long hiatus in 2002, but until then was building its fan base via extensive touring throughout the world--an effort that has paid off with sold-out arena dates in several corners of Europe and beyond.
"We toured pretty much nonstop, selling our records through a series of small deals, country by country, and really concentrating on our live show," bassist Chris Wolsteholme said in the band's record company biography. "Playing for an audience night after night is what kept us and the music true and honest. It gave us an opportunity to grow naturally."
