Jimmy Buffett sets New Orleans reading, mini-concert

Jimmy Buffett will give a special New Orleans performance next month, at which he'll read excerpts from his forthcoming novel, perform a short set with his "beach band" and take questions from the audience.

The show, scheduled for Dec. 8 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre of the Performing Arts, will be broadcast to Regal Cinemas nationwide. At press time, the movie theater chain hadn't announced which of its cinemas would be presenting the show, but the information should surface soon on the company's website.

Tickets for the New Orleans performance, dubbed "A Coastal Confession," hit the market on Saturday (11/13), according to Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)

As previously reported, Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band are also scheduled to play a Nov. 23 benefit concert at Orlando's T.D. Waterhouse Centre to raise money for hurricane relief efforts in Florida, Alabama and the Caribbean.

"A Salty Piece of Land," Buffett's first new novel in a decade, is due in stores on Nov. 30.

Buffett's latest album, "License To Chill," hit stores in July. The set--which features guest appearances by several country artists, including Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, George Strait and Toby Keith--moved 235,000 copies during its first week in stores, enough to debut at the top of The Billboard 200 album chart.
