Briefly: Eminem, Michael Jackson, KROQ Christmas, David Lee Roth
Though it was in stores for just three days during the latest reporting week, Eminem 's "Encore" sold more than 710,000 copies, easily topping the U.S. album chart.
Interscope Records rushed "Encore" into stores four days early, citing heavy demand and Internet bootlegging.
Coming in at No. 2 on the new Billboard 200 is Shania Twain's "Greatest Hits," followed by Toby Keith's "Greatest Hits 2."
Another best-of set, Britney Spears' "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative," debuts at No. 4, while the hits compilation "NOW That's What I Call Music! Vol. 17" falls from No. 1 to No. 5.
Michael Jackson reportedly is the target of a $3 million breach-of-contract suit.
J. Marc Schaffel, who claims in the suit that he was instrumental in producing two Fox-TV specials on Jackson's behalf to rebut a documentary by journalist Martin Bashir, claims Jackson hasn't repaid loans or paid production fees for the project.
The lineup for the second night of Los Angeles-area radio station KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas concert will include Green Day , Incubus, Sum 41, Hoobastank, Velvet Revolver, Good Charlotte, Social Distortion, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach and Chevelle. The show takes place Dec. 12 at the Universal Amphitheater in Universal City, CA.
As previously reported, the first-night lineup, set for Dec. 11 at the same venue, will include Franz Ferdinand, The Shins, The Killers, Modest Mouse, Interpol, Jimmy Eat World, Keane, Muse, Snow Patrol, Taking Back Sunday and The Music.
The New York Post reported this week that former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth is training to be a New York City paramedic. The paper said that Roth has gone on dozens of actual calls, and recently revived a woman using a defibrillator.
