Modest Mouse to end its breakthrough year at home
Modest Mouse , which scored one of 2004's surprise million-plus selling albums, will finish the year with a few appearances at holiday-themed radio station festivals, followed by a four-night hometown stand in Portland, OR.
After appearing at multi-act December festivals in the Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, the alt-rock quartet will play four consecutive nights at Portland's Crystal Ballroom. According to the venue's website, the first and last shows of the Dec. 13-15 Portland run are already sold out.
The band continues to back its breakthrough album, "Good News for People Who Love Bad News," which hit stores in April and is certified platinum. The set, which spawned the hit "Float On," was produced by Dennis Herring (Camper Van Beethoven, Throwing Muses).
The second single from "Good News," "The Ocean Breathes Salty," is currently in rotation on MTV.
"Good News" is the follow-up to 2000's critically hailed "The Moon & Antarctica."
