Slipknot heats up for Canadian winter tour
Masked metal marauders Slipknot brave the cold north of the border in early 2005 during a headlining run through Canada.
The group has planned a short stretch of shows throughout the country that runs from Jan. 7-16. Details are shown below.
A one-off stop in New Zealand follows before the group spends the rest of January and early February touring Australia as part of this year's Big Day Out festival. More information is available at the band's website.
The outing is part of the Midwestern group's support for its third album, this year's "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses." The band, which worked with producer Ross Robinson on its previous two releases, opted to team with producer Rick Rubin (Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers) this time around.
"Rick works differently from other producers," drummer Joey Jordison said in an interview with liveDaily earlier this year. "That's really hard to put into words. He wants you to do what you want, he wants you to get your vision of your song through your playing, and lay that down. I'll do maybe a half-dozen takes of a song, and then he'll come in and we'll listen to it. After that, then he'll start giving suggestions. It's awesome, because you get everything that you want out of the song, and then you build on it after that."
Jordison will spend much of December manning the drums for Swedish metal outfit Satyricon during that group's three-week U.S. tour. The band's regular drummer, who goes by the name Frost, is unable to enter the U.S. due to visa problems, according to Satyricon's website.
