Alison Krauss adds more shows as tour launches
Alison Krauss & Union Station, who launch a U.S. tour on Wednesday night (12/1), have added more stops to the run.
The bluegrass outfit's schedule--which already included a stretch of early December and mid-January shows--now features an early February leg that focuses on the South. The itinerary is shown below.
Tickets for many stops are on sale now.
Krauss and her band are backing their recently released album, "Lonely Runs Both Ways," which is the group's first new studio set since 2001's "New Favorite." In the interim, the two-disc live collection "Alison Krauss & Union Station Live" surfaced in 2002.
"Lonely Runs Both Ways" features several band originals, as well as songs by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, John Scott Sherrill and Mindy Smith, Del McCoury, Woody Guthrie, Del McCoury and others.
In November, Krauss picked up two CMA awards for her duet with Brad Paisley, "Whiskey Lullaby," which won in the Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories. The cut is featured on Paisley's album "Mud on the Tires."
Earlier this year, Krauss won three Grammys, bringing her career total to 17, more than any other female artist in the history of the awards.
