Joe Cocker brings 'Heart and Soul' to North America

British blues-rocker Joe Cocker , who has been touring Europe in recent months, returns to North America in January to tour behind his new album, "Heart and Soul."
Cocker is set to play more than two months of dates in the U.S. and Canada, visiting a mix of casinos, clubs and theaters.
Though it's been in European stores since September, "Heart and Soul" won't hit shelves in the U.S. until Jan. 29. The set was produced by CJ Vanston, and features guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Steve Lukather and Jeff Baxter.
Among the songs Cocker covers on the album are Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell On You," U2's "One," John Lennon's "Jealous Guy," R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts," Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" and Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On."
"Heart and Soul" follows 2002's "Respect Yourself," the title track from which is an early '70s Luther Ingram song.
Cocker isn't a songwriter and doesn't play an instrument. Nonetheless, his soulful and gravely voice has carried him throughout his 30-plus-year career. Cocker's hits included his renditions of "A Little Help from My Friends," "The Letter" and "You Are So Beautiful," as well as his chart-topping duet with Jennifer Warnes, "Up Where We Belong," which was the theme to the 1982 film "An Officer and a Gentleman."
