Slipknot lays plans for U.S. tour as Canadian outing nears
After tackling a January tour of Canada, the masked men of Slipknot turn their sights to an ambitious U.S. outing that will also feature fellow metalheads Lamb of God and Shadows Fall .
So far, Slipknot has revealed plans to stop in 37 U.S. cities between March 4 and May 2. Specific tour dates and venues have not yet been announced. The list of cities that the group plans to hit is shown below.
Also below are details of the band's Canadian trek, which kicks off in Quebec City on Jan. 7 and works its way westward before wrapping up in Vancouver on Jan. 16.
Sandwiched between the Canadian and U.S. runs is a one-off stop in New Zealand and a January/February stint as part of Australia's annual Big Day Out festival. More information is available at the band's website.
The outing is part of Slipknot's support for its third album, this year's "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses." The band, which worked with producer Ross Robinson on its previous two releases, opted to team with producer Rick Rubin (Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers) this time around.
Massachusetts-based Shadows Fall is backing its latest set, "War Within," which surfaced in September. Virginia quintet Lamb of God is supporting its August release, "Ashes of the Wake."
"A Slipknot/Lamb of God/Shadows Fall tour? Dear Lord, what a mess," Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe said in a statement. "Thousands of screaming freaks, beer and God knows what else flying everywhere, large metal objects being smashed together, innocent bystanders weeping in confusion over the general mayhem. Oh wait, that's just the party in the parking lot before the show starts. Come inside and the REAL fun will begin. Have your mama pack you a lunch, cause it's gonna be a long, hard night!"
"We're totally excited about our next U.S. tour where we once again will be playing with bands that we are not only friends with but also fans of," Shadows Fall vocalist Brian Fair added. "We've been friends with the guys in Slipknot for a while but have not had the chance to actually tour with them and we look forward to this opportunity. There should be lots of crazy tour stories to add to our growing list."
