Lou Reed To Tour This June In Support Of "Ecstasy"

Rock 'n' roll animal Lou Reed [ tickets ] is taking his longtime band on the road in the U.S. in June, supporting his recent release "Ecstacy" (Reprise).

Currently on tour in Europe, the singer-songwriter will be joined by guitarist Mike Rathke, bassist Fernando Saunders and drummer Tony "Thunder" Smith, all of whom have been with Reed for a decade or more.

''Ecstasy'' features notable narrative songs "Paranoia Key of E" and "The Rock Minuet." The 18-minute jam "Like a Possum," a raw reflection on bottoming out on drugs, alcohol and sex, has drawn comparisons to the Velvet Underground song "Sister Ray" and to Reed's "Blue Mask."
