Hoobastank calls off December shows as singer recovers
Hoobastank frontman Doug Robb has come down with a case of bronchial pneumonia, forcing the band to postpone its remaining December tour schedule.
According to a press release recently issued by the band's management, Robb was hospitalized last week and later sent home for a week of bed rest.
Hoobastank's string of cancellations began on Dec. 12, when the group pulled out of Los Angeles-area radio station KROQ's holiday show. Other affected dates were Dec. 15 at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC; Dec. 16 at House of Blues in Orlando; Dec. 17 at Florida's Pompano Beach Amphitheatre; and Dec. 18 at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, FL. Monday's (12/20) show at The Quest in Minneapolis and Tuesday's (12/21) gig in Milwaukee also have been postponed.
Doctors expect Robb to make a full recovery, and Hoobastank is expected to return to the stage for a Feb. 3 appearance at the MTV Asia awards in Bangkok. According to the band's management, the postponed December shows will be rescheduled sometime after the Grammy Awards, which are set for Feb. 13.
Hoobastank's sophomore set, "The Reason," is nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock Album category, and the album's title track is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
