Luscious Jackson Comes To "Natural Conclusion"

New York alt-pop/hip-hop group Luscious Jackson has broken up, according to a statement issued by the band.

''We all want to diversify what we do individually, and the band just came to its natural conclusion," said bassist/vocalist Jill Cunniff. "It's been a great eight years, and we hope to work together again in the future."

Cunniff and group members vocalist/guitarist Gabby Glaser and drummer Kate Shellenbach didn't release further information about upcoming projects.

Luscious Jackson recently toured with Smash Mouth in February and early March in the Out Loud tour.

Former keyboardist keyboardist Vivian Trimble, who left the group in 1998, is collaborating with ex-Breeders bassist Josephine Wiggs in a group called Dusty Trails , which will release a self-titled debut on Atlantic Records on May 9. Cunniff, Shellenbach, Emmylou Harris and John Mattock (Spaceman 3, Spirtualized) contributed to the atmospheric album, which was inspired by film composers.
